Week 3 - 6/13-6/19 - Twitter hashtags
I learned this week while following these hashtags...
A lot of the #edtech posts were full of tools to use.
Here is the first one I tried: planboard.com. It is an excellent way to keep track of lesson planning. It has an excellent tool that allows a user to input standards and pull them into the plan at any time.
Another tool from this week which I'm excited to try with my English language learners: Fluency Tutor for Google... it's an extension that allows teachers to share passages with students, and has them read to the Chromebook, which measures all of the statistics needed to determine reading fluency. This will be helpful to determine reading levels at the beginning of the school year for my 7th graders,
Whoa... a lot of people are raving about Flipgrid. Flipgrid seems pretty cool. It allows students to be part of a community video sharing group. It is a way for teachers to add topics, and then have students give short video opinions and thoughts on them... pretty cool!
3.
I love Twitter more today than I ever have. I really think that some of these posts I've found will improve my teaching skills. Therefore, it is of extreme value to check frequently. I wonder how any teachers get by without this stuff.... This platform is far different than just a social media outlet. It is a way to catalog and give short bits of information as concisely as possible. I'm kind of sad that our president has been using it so vigilantly, and I bet he doesn't even have a PLN!
